Hello FocusJax readers, leaders, managers, supervisors, followers, dreamers, and creators, I encourage you to think about how you can get ahead, work, or leap forward strategically, tactically, and rationally in our BANI-Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible world today and tomorrow.
“Developing Your Plan: The ARMS Method”
To do this effectively, consider steps to formulate your own plan of action using ARMS: Actions, Results, Milestones, and Solutions. This clarity helps you translate ideas into practical steps, motivating you to take action.
Here’s the sticking point. When you emphasize this mindset, thought, or approach, you can start to feel confident, focused, and motivated to take control of your pathway to the success you want, need, desire, or deserve. This confidence can strengthen your belief in your ability to shape your future.
“Learning from Insights: A Perspective on Earning Potential”
To add another dimension to this message, consider a key insight from the book “The Ties that Bind: Perspectives on Marriage and Cohabitation,” edited by Linda J. Waite, with co-editors Christine Bachrach, Michelle Hindin, Elizabeth Thomson, and Arland Thornton. This book presents a statement that everyone—especially young women and men—should know and reflect upon.
Rather than paraphrasing, I’ll share it directly from page 126 of the book. This message should prompt you to examine your own proposals for living or earning potential as a FocusJax reader, leader, manager, supervisor, follower, dreamer, or creator.
In short, I am sharing a path for how you live, work, and play to improve your life and positively impact those you influence. Now, read, think, and apply
Now read, think, and apply this:
…” In American society, married men are expected to contribute substantially to their family’s income. Most young women consider whether the financial benefits a potential partner could bring are sufficient to justify a long-term commitment, such as marriage. If not, they usually wait for an improvement in earning potential or look for something else.”
“Wow! That’s powerful.”
“Applying this Insight to Your Life”

The transformation that comes from understanding this concept is truly empowering. Visualize a girl, young woman, boy, or young man implementing a life-changing strategy to enhance their quality of life or earning potential.
Drawing on my own experiences, I appreciate the outcomes you achieve through strategic planning. This process provides a sense of control over your future. By making thoughtful choices, you gain insight into who you are and the life you may choose in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
Highlighting this rational approach inspires hope and a belief in your ability to shape your future.
“Choosing Wisely: Lessons from a Female Engineer”
Given what I know worked for me, I love the outcome you discovered today. This strategic planning concept gives its user a sense of control over their future. The insight, process, and program of making the right choice helps them understand who they are and the life they might choose in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. Highlighting this rational approach can inspire hope and a belief in their capacity to shape their future.
The story became even more powerful when I asked a seasoned and talented female engineer how she chose her lifelong partner. Like all the women of her day, she admired the handsome men the girls all wanted, but her planning made her focus on qualities that truly mattered. Sharing the message today can evoke admiration and confidence in your ability to make thoughtful, strategic choices.

That emotional bliss still occurs today with virtual reality television shows such as The Bachelor. The engineer even took the time to date and converse with some of those quotes’ “dream” guys. Our engineer’s story is a testament to the wisdom every girl or young woman ought to know.
By the way, the dream world of choosing a partner isn’t the way to go. Instead, she did what every good-to-great engineer does. She thought about what she wanted, devised a plan, and executed it. If you’re worried about how to start, remember that identifying qualities that genuinely matter to you-whether in a partner or a career-and evaluating options against these criteria is a practical first step. This approach is not only helpful but also inspiring, helping you confidently move from ideas to action.
Ultimately, my female engineer focused on her written strategy, which she had designed to transform her life and the lives of her future children. Her plan targeted men who had what she called “earning potential,” defined as the ability and willingness to work hard and smart to achieve financial success. To follow her example, assess your current skills and earning potential, then create a plan to develop areas that need growth to meet your financial goals.
Hence, you must recognize that the premise of earning potential can empower both men and women to develop their skills and plan for a secure future. I advise both sexes to do the same.
“A Starling Secret to Success”

The best way to view your life now is through this surprise secret to success. Even the great Sir John Templeton might agree that investing in yourself during uncertainty is wise. You should pursue a partner for love, build your earning potential, and ensure your choices align with your goals for life, work, and play. Then, you put your plan into action. When potential partners don’t align with your vision, plan, or effort, you move on quickly until you find the right fit.
